Investigation into recent burglaries

Detectives at Strand Road police station in Londonderry have appealed for information about a number of recent burglaries in the city.

On Saturday, January 31, a window of a house at Liscannor Park, Foyle Springs, was forced open and a sum of money was stolen.

On Tuesday evening, February 3, an attempt was made to break into a flat at Limavady Road.

Detective Constable Richard Donnell, the investigating officer, said: “The occupant was at home when the attempt happened.

“She believes she saw a man and a woman leave the area in a red car.”

A red car was also seen in the proximity of a burglary that occurred at Tamneymore Park, off Strabane Old Road, between 6pm and 9pm on Tuesday.

A large sum of cash was stolen, along with several expensive items of jewellery including some with sentimental value, Detective Constable Donnell said.

Also on Tuesday, the kitchen door of a house at Hampstead Park, off Culmore Road, was forced open but Detective Constable Donnell said nothing was stolen.

Meanwhile, an attempt was made to break into a house at Woodbrook in the Galliagh area,through the rear door.
