Investigation launched after illegal dumping reported in Carrickfergus

Fly-tippers have been slammed after items were dumped in the Cadiz Manor area of the town.

Commenting on the issue, a spokesperson for Mid and East Antrim Borough Council said: “This matter has been reported to Environmental Health and is currently under investigation.”

East Antrim MLA John Stewart urged those responsible to “have a look” at themselves.

Condemning those behind the dumping, which is believed to have occurred overnight, the Ulster Unionist Party representative said: “Local residents have been in touch with me directly and have shared details of the van responsible. I have passed these pictures and details on to council environmental health and enforcement.

“Sadly our brilliant council workers will now need to be tasked to clear this. What on earth is wrong with these people! Have a look at yourselves.”
