Kicked mother on back of leg

Darren Hughes, 21, of Albert Street, Lurgan, admitted unlawful damage and assault on June 6 this year.

The court heard police were called to a house in Albert Street where the injured party said her son had returned home and assaulted her.

He had kicked her on the back of the leg and smashed the remote control of the TV on a wall.

When interviewed by police Hughes said he could not remember the events of the previous night.

A solicitor for Hughes said that his mother had agreed to take him back.

He added that when he took drink he got himself into difficulties. He realised he needed to deal with his alcohol consumption and this was something he was trying to do.

For each offence he was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for two years.
