Latest: Two arrested in Coleraine drug raids

The first arrest came on Tuesday, October 2 after a house in the Union Street area was searched. Police arrested and charged a 22-year-old man with possession of class B drugs with intent to supply. The drugs discovered, thought to be cannabis, are estimated to value around £400.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

In a second search on Sunday, police arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a class A and class B drug with intent to supply.

The arrest followed the search of a house in the Rinfield Court area of the town. The man was released on police bail to be questioned again at a later date.

Coleraine police Inspector Ian Armour has asked people to continue to back police efforts against drugs.

He said: “Police are working hard to keep people safe and reduce the harm caused by drug misuse in our communities.

“The support of the wider public is crucial in tackling the issue. If you have information concerning the supply of drugs in your area please contact police. Your information is vital as we look to disrupt drug dealers. Dealers are out to line their pockets at the expense of the community. The community and the police can work together to hit back.
