Life-saving defibrillator taken from its container at Cookstown

Police have hit out at those who removed a life-saving defibrillator from its container in Cookstown.

They say they are investigating the incident and have appealed for information.

Constable Scott-Murphy said: “It was reported that sometime between yesterday, Thursday 6th August and this morning, Friday 7th August a defibrillator was taken from its container in the Burn Road area of Cookstown.

"Damage was caused to the glass casing which contained the defibrillator during the incident.

“The defibrillator has since been recovered at a different location on the Burn Road.

"This type of equipment is used to benefit the wider public and fitted on an outside wall so that it can be used in an emergency.

“It is a vital piece of equipment that could mean the difference between life and death for someone. I would appeal to anyone who has any information, or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, to contact Police at Magherafelt on 101 quoting reference 792 07/08/20 or submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.
