Limavady: Air Support and Armed Response units involved in search for man who 'threatened' children at park
PSNI Armed Response Unit officers were involved in a search operation in Limavady following reports of children being threatened a park on Thursday evening (July 23).
Police say they received a report of a man telling children to a leave a park in the Benevenagh Drive area in a threatening manner at approximately 8.55pm.
Local officers, with the assistance of Air Support and Armed Response units personnel, conducted a significant search of the area. Police say no-one matching the description provided was located.
“We are aware of reports on social media alleging that the man was making sexualised comments towards children, and want to emphasise that this is not what was reported to police,” said Local Policing Inspector Roxborough.

“As evidenced by our response, when we dispatched a substantial number of officers to the area, we take any reported threat towards the safety of children extremely seriously.
“We would ask that the public avoid speculation, and instead contact us with any information they may have.”
