

Sean McVeigh from Victoria Street appeared in the dock to a packed court and heard two charges put to him.
McVeigh, who was arrested on Monday during searches of his home, is accused of the murder of the father of two on November 1 2012 and possession of a firearm, namely an AK47, with intent to endanger life on the same date.

Mr Black (52) was shot on the M1 near Lurgan as he drove to work at Maghaberry Prison. The car used in his killing, a Toyota Camry, was found burnt out in Lurgan
Among those in the court were dozens gathered to support McVeigh as well as Mr Black’s son Kyle.
McVeigh’s solicitor said he would not be applying for bail today as they were in the process of effecting sureties.

McVeigh, who was wearing a grey and blue sweat top and grey sweat pants, was remanded in custody to appear via video link at Craigavon Magistrates Court on February 28.
Supporters in the court room shouted ‘Head Up Sean’ and started clapping and cheering as McVeigh was led out of the dock flanked by three prison officers.
