Made false report to police on assault

A woman who falsely told police that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, was fined £150 at Londonderry Magistrates Court.

In the dock was Eileen Louise Angela Monaghan (26), of Foyle Valley House, who pleaded guilty to a charge of improper use of communications on April 8.

The court was told that she made a ‘999’ call to police claiming she had been assaulted, but when police arrived she apologised and said she had lied, and had done to annoy her boyfriend.

Her solicitor, Seamus Quigley, said she regretted the incident and it had been a stupid thing to do.
