Man arrested as police seize large quantity of fireworks, cocaine and cigarettes

Detectives from PSNI organised crime unit searched a property Magherafelt yesterday (Friday) and seized counterfeit cigarettes, fireworks and cocaine being seized at a property.

A man has been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

Detective Inspector Shaw said: “Today’s search was a proactive organised crime operation targeting organised criminality in the Mid Ulster area.

"As a result of the search we recovered approximately 8,400 counterfeit cigarettes, a large number of fireworks and a quantity of suspected cocaine.

"A 22 year old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A controlled drug, possession of fireworks without a licence, trading in counterfeit products and possession of criminal property.

“Information from the public is key in our efforts to stop those who profit from illegal activities. I would ask anyone with any information which can assist us to target these individuals to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
