Man arrested by police after woman was 'dragged along pathway'

Police are investigating an incident in which a woman was allegedly dragged along a pathway by a man.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident which took place in Coalisland yesterday evening.

Detective Sergeant Ryan said: “At around 6:50pm, it was reported that a 24-year-old female was dragged along the pathway between Castlehill Terrace and Crewhill Terrace by a male. The female’s injuries were not believed to be serious

“Upon arrival of police to a property at Bellavale Terrace following the assault, one man threatened officers in attendance and was later arrested on suspicion of common assault, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indicatable offence and assault on police. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1613 04/06/20. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
