Man arrested following Longstone assault

A 33 year old man was arrested following a report of an assault which took place at the Longstone Street area of Lisburn on Tuesday April 27.

Shortly after 11:25pm, it was reported to police that a man was assaulted by two other men in the area at the junction with Tonagh Drive.

A police spokesperson said: “It is believed that an earlier road traffic collision occurred in the area involving a black Seat Altea and a grey Jaguar X-Type.

“Damage was reported to the front driver’s side bumper of the Seat as a result of the road traffic collision in the area. The driver of the Jaguar then made off from the scene towards the Tonagh Mews area following the incident.

“A 32 year old man was taken to hospital for facial injuries following the assault. The second male believed to have been involved in the assault is described as 5”11 in height and of athletic build, believed to be aged between his 30s and 40s and was wearing a dressing gown.

“The 33 year old man was later arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving. He is currently in police custody at this time.

“Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone who witnessed a grey Jaguar X-Type which was seen driving erratically in the Longstone Street area of Lisburn at around 6:15pm on Tuesday April 27.
