Man arrested for tractor theft

Police have arrested a man in connection with tractor theft, following a telephone call from a vigilant member of the public in the outskirts of Ballymena.

On Sunday night (08/04/12), a concerned member of the public reported suspicious activity in the Moorfields Road area. Police were deployed to the scene and a 47 year old male was arrested. He was subsequently charged with aggravated vehicle taking, criminal damage and other motoring related offences.

A police spokesperson said: “We take all reports of suspicious activity very seriously. If you notice anything untoward in your neighbourhood, or see unknown vehicles outside premises or on neighbouring land in rural areas, note down any important details such as a description or vehicle registration and contact police immediately on 999. Officers will follow up on your call and, as was the outcome in this incident, your prompt information could prevent a crime from occurring.”
