Man '˜ashamed' of disorderly behaviour

After he was put out of a Portadown bar, a 30-year-old man refused to identify himself to police, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Trevor McClure, Granville Road, Portadown, was fined £100 for obstructing police on November 1 this year.

He was also fined £150 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy for disorderly behaviour on the Killycomaine Road.

The court heard that police responded to a call of an aggressive male who had been ejected by staff at Tipplers bar.

He was the defendant who was heavily intoxicated and was swaying from side to side.

McClure refused to supply any of his details to the police and told to moderate his language as he was shouting and swearing. He continued to refuse to give details and struggled with police before being handcuffed.

McClure then refused to get into the police car and when he was forced in he refused to sit up and lay across the rear seat. In custody he continued to refuse to co-operate and was placed in a cell.

A solicitor representing McClure said his client had far too much alcohol on board and was embarrassed and ashamed by his actions.
