Man charged over £1m drugs seizure

A 37-YEAR-OLD man will appear in court tomorrow (Wednesday) following the discovery of 100 kilos of herbal cannabis thought to be worth £1million.

The drugs, packaged and marked for distribution as frozen meat, were uncovered by police who stopped a van near Loughbrickland on Monday night.

The man will appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court charged with possession of a Class B drug and possession with intent to supply.

The van, which was heading south, was stopped as part of an investigation into organised crime and the distribution of drugs across Ireland.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
