Dean Robert Currie (33) from Russell Drive in Lurgan said the small amount of cannabis and 16 diazapan tablets (not registered to the defendant) found in a search of his home were needed to help him sleep.

In fining him £150 plus an offenders levy of £15, District Judge Mervyn Bates said Currie had to find another way of dealing with his problems.

He noted that Currie’s court appearances for drug-related matters seemed to be a “fairly regular occurance”.
