Man in Court on rape charge

A man has appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court on a rape charge.

James Frickleton (34), no fixed abode, is accused of raping and sexually assaulting a woman in the early hours of Sunday. It relates to an alleged incident on the Limavady Road.

A PSNI officer told the court she could connect the accused to the charges, while solicitor Seamus Quigley said there was no application for bail. He also said Frickleton, from the South of Ireland, came to live in the city last week. He was remanded in custody for a video appearance on November 13.
