Man in custody after Newtownabbey collision

Police are investigating a one-vehicle road traffic collision in Newtownabbey which occurred during the early hours of today (Friday, April 3).

A report was made to police at approximately 1.50am that a silver Vauxhall Astra was on its roof on the Mill Road in the Macedon area.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “No injuries were reported and enquiries are underway to establish what occurred.

“Officers have since arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of offences, including driving when unfit through drink or drugs. He remains in custody this morning, assisting police with enquiries.”

Inspector Patty is urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who captured footage of the vehicle prior to the collision, or the collision itself, to get in touch with police on the non emergency number 101, quoting incident reference number 72 of 03/04/20.
