Man in his 80s tied up and attacked during burglary

THIEVES tied up and attacked a man in his 80s during an aggravated burglary in the Aughnacloy Road area of Banbridge last night (Monday).

Shortly before 9pm it was reported to police that two men, one carrying a knife, entered a house in the area. They pushed the man to the ground and tied him up before making off with a sum of cash.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening. The two men are described as being in their 40’s and well built.

Police are investigating the incident and anyone with information about the incident or who saw anyone or any vehicles acting suspiciously on either the Aughnacloy Road, Lower Castlevennon Road or Castlevennon Road is asked to contact CID in Lurgan on 0845 600 8000.
