Man made 'homophobic remarks' whilst being disorderly at Belfast International Airport

A judge said language used by a man during an incident at Belfast International Airport was "awful" and was "aggravated by homophobic remarks".

District Judge Nigel Broderick was speaking at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena on Tuesday.

Luke Fenwick (29), of Bowburn Avenue, Sunderland, is accused of indecent and disorderly behaviour at Belfast International Airport. He is also charged with resisting a police officer on September 24 this year.

The full details of the case have yet to be outlined but a prosecutor said the indecent behaviour charge related to "urinating".

The defence wants to make representations to prosecutors about the case. The barrister said it had been an "unsavoury incident"; the defendant had alcohol taken; and there were "potential medical issues".

The lawyer said the defendant, who was present at court, will be pleading guilty.

Judge Broderick said the type of language used by the defendant had been "awful" and was "aggravated by homophobic remarks as well".

The defendant had been flying in connection with work. The case has been adjourned to early November.
