He faced two charges - common assault and criminal damage.

His barrister, Mr John Paul McCann, said his client pleaded guilty to the common assault on October 10 last year ‘on the basis that it was the flipping of the table that put the complainant in fear’ and asked the district judge to consider the criminal damage charge ‘on the papers’.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan said he had considered it.

“In this case we have two people living in the one property. There’s no significant proof of ownership in relation to any items damaged,” he said, dismissing that charge.

The court heard police spoke with the injured party at her home on October 17 last year where she lived with her ex-partner. She said that during a verbal argument the defendant “flipped the dining room table that they were both sitting at causing her to fear”.

Mr McCann said his client works at ABP Meats and is now back in a relationship with his wife with whom he has two children.

He explained his client was in a relationship with the complainant for four years, adding: “he instructs he did this out of frustration and he shouldn’t have done it.”

District Judge Michael Ranaghan fined Domingo £350 plus the offender levy of £15. He was given 12 weeks to pay.
