Men arrested after attempt to steal fuel

Two men have been arrested after an attempt to steal fuel from a church late on Sunday night, say the PSNI.

Police received a report of two men trying to steal fuel, a vehilce and trailer from the rear of a church on Moss Bank Road, in Craigavon.

The incident happened at around 11pm and when officers attended, the men made off on foot.

However a Nissan Terrano vehicle, with a horse box attached, was found close to the scene. The horse box contained a quantity of fuel and the Nissan Terrano had been reported as stolen from the Edenderry Road area of Scarva.

Police detained two men a short time later a few miles away from the scene and they were arrested for theft, criminal damage and driving offences.

The 18 year old and 21 year old are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
