Moffatt murder accused denied bail, court told

THE man charged with the murder of Coleraine pensioner Norman Moffatt has been refused bail. James Alexander McCook (42) made a bail application as he appeared at North Antrim Magistrates’ Court via video link from Maghaberry Prison on Monday morning.

He is accused of stabbing 73-year-old father-of-two Norman Moffatt as he walked home with his morning paper in Coleraine in January 2001. Mr Moffatt was taken to hospital but died almost two months later on March 19.
