Mother and son fined for insurance offences

A MOTHER and her son were each fined £200 at Magherafelt Magistrates Court for insurance offences.

Bronagh McCann (43) housewife, and Ryan McCann (21), factory worker, both of Homelands, Toomebridge, were also given six penalty points.

A PPS lawyer told the court that the offence came to light after police stopped a car being driven by Ryan McCann at Loves Road, Magherafelt.

A defence solicitor explained that some problem occurred with the insurance payment and Mrs McCann said she was not aware of it until the offence arose.

He said Ryan was driving his mother’s car and assumed he was covered to do so by her insurance.
