Mother charged with murdering child in Lisburn

The mother of a three-year-old boy has been charged with the child’s murder.

Michelle Owens, 27, appeared in court on Friday morning charged with the murder of Brendan Owens.

She was dressed in a dark blue tracksuit, and was flanked by custody officers in the dock at Lisburn Courthouse.

No questions were asked by legal representatives and there was no bail application. She will appear again on October 7 via video link.

Brendan Owens was found dead on July 4 at a house in Trinity Terrace, Lisburn.

A 51-year-old man was also arrested on Thursday over the boy’s death. He was later released on police bail pending further inquiries.
