Motorist on drink drive charge

A one-year driving ban and £200 fine were imposed at Limavacy Magistrates Court on a motorist detected drink driving.

Robert Allen (25), of Drumachose Park, was detected with excess alcohol on November 22, 2014, when police stopped him at 4.10am and smelled alcohol on his breath. He failed a preliminary test and an evidential test gave a reading of 44 microgrammes. A blood test gave a reading of 96.

Imposing penalty, District Judge Liam McNally said he took into consideration Allen’s clear record.

Allen was also ordered to pay a £15 offender levy.
