Newtownabbey shooting probe: man (29) charged with a number of offences included attempted murder

A man is due to appear in court on charges relating to a shooting incident in the Beverley Road area of Newtownabbey on Monday (January 6).

The 29-year-old is charged with a number of offences including attempted murder, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday, January 11.

Police say is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

Meanwhile, an off duty police officer injured in the incident has been discharged from hospital and continues to be supported by colleagues as he recovers.
