Nurse’s death not suspicious

The 21-year-old men arrested by police during the investigation into the death of a 19-year-old woman has been released unconditionally.

His release follows the post mortem earlier today on the body of the woman, a student nurse, who was found in a flat in the city and was later pronounced dead at Altnagelvin Hospital.

A PSNI spokesman said police no longer considered the death suspicious.

“As a result of enquiries and after studying the results of a post mortem examination, detectives do not believe the death of a 19 year old woman found at Cromore Gardens in Derry yesterday was suspicious,” the spokesman said.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Harvey said: “A 21 year old man arrested at the time has been released unconditionally. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
