Pair arrested after car stolen and suspicious activity at Portadown homes

Two men, arrested after a car was stolen in Belfast and suspicious activity in Portadown, have been released on bail.

The men, aged 31 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of a number of driving-related offences, including aggravated vehicle taking, and fraud by false representation.

Sergeant Rowan said said police received a report just before 10.40pm on Sunday that a Citroen C3 had been stolen from outside of a house in Northbrook St Belfast. The car was found in the Moy Rd area of Portadown at around 3:50am on Monday morning.

“We believe this may be linked to the report of suspicious circumstances at Rose Cottage Portadown on Monday when at around 4:50am, two males, both reported to be wearing dark-coloured clothing, were seen acting suspiciously in the area.”

“We believe, at this time, this may be linked to the report of suspicious circumstances in the Rose Cottage area of Portadown in the early hours of today (11th January) when at around 4:50am, two males, both reported to be wearing dark-coloured clothing, were seen acting suspiciously in the area.”

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in either of these areas at these times and saw anything suspicious, or who has information which may help our investigation to call 101, quoting reference number 1501 of 10/01/21.”

“After a security light went on the men where seen entering the back garden with torches. They were scared off when a window was banged at them. The brass neck of them, they went to a neighbor’s house

“Please be aware that even though we are in the middle of a pandemic these type of people are still chancing their arm. Make sure your doors and windows are locked at night and when you go out. And stay safe.”
