Pair to appear in court charged with handing stolen goods

Two people, arrested following suspicious activity in Waringstown yesterday (Tuesday) are to appear in court.

A 25-year-old woman has been charged with handling stolen goods and going equipped for theft. She is due to appear at Craigavon Magistrates Court this morning Wednesday 7 October.

A 39-year-old man has been charged with handling stolen goods and going equipped for theft. He is due to appear at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Friday 30 October.

The charges are in connection with arrests on the Banbridge Road, Waringstown, on the afternoon of Tuesday 6 October.

Police stopped a suspicious vehicle in Waringstown on Tuesday afternoon.

Sergeant Mel Gibson explained on Tuesday: “A police patrol spotted a silver Mercedes car being driven erratically on the Banbridge Road at around 1.45pm.

“Officers stopped the vehicle and located a large quantity of suspected stolen items inside, including clothing and pharmaceutical items with the security tags still attached.

“Other items, that experience tells us can be used to commit theft, were also found. All items have now been seized as evidence.

“Two occupants in the vehicle, a 39 year old man and a 25 year old female, were arrested on suspicion of theft and going equipped for theft.”
