PET ATTACKS ‘DEPRAVED’

ATTACKS on family pets have been described as ‘depraved’ by the USPCA.

It emerged this week how thugs have been using dogs to attack cats in the town.

A USPCA spokesperson said: ‘Unfortunately the depravity described by your correspondent is not an isolated case. All such incidents must be reported to your local Animal Welfare Officer for investigation.”

A council spokesperson has also revealed there have been nine dog on cat attacks since April.

Sinn Fein Cllr Noel McGeown said the senseless mutilation of a cat in Kilwilke was ‘deplorable’.

He added: “Pets provide company and comfort for their owners who can become very attached to them and this incident will be a matter of grave concern for the many caring owners who live in the area.

“That anyone would torture and kill a defenceless animal defies belief and I would encourage anyone with information about this incident to pass it on to the USPCA.”
