They particularly want to hear from anyone with information on a burglary which took place on the morning of Wednesday, July 2, when a householder discovered that money had been stolen from her home at Bishop Street during the night.

They also want to hear from anyone with information on a burglary which happened in the small hours of Wednesday, probably sometime between 2am and 4am, when a Nexus branded mobile phone was stolen from a house at Foyle Road.

“Meanwhile, at about 1.30pm on Wednesday, a purse was stolen from a house at Primity Crescent in Newbuildings,” a PSNI spokesman said.

“Information on any of the incidents can be given by contacting the detectives at Strand Road on the 101 non-emergency number,” the spokesman said, adding: “It can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The spokesman said that Foyle police were also encouraging householders to ensure that they closed and locked their windows and doors when they go out and also when they go to bed at night to thwart burglars.

“Open doors and windows give burglars open access to homes,” he said.
