A man was arrested and a scrambler bike seized after the incident last Thursday.

Con Gary McKeown said: “The community in Drumgor have reported ongoing issues with scramblers using the pathway system around Brownlow and we attended the area on Thursday, 14 May, following a report of a scrambler driving on a grass area in Drumgor.

“We used a handheld camera to video the incident and were able to identify the driver. We located the scrambler which was seized for no insurance and a 19-year-old man has been reported to the PPS for no driving licence, no insurance, driving on land other than a road and wearing no helmet.

“We will continue to monitor this issue and take action against those who break the law.

“Quads, and some scramblers, do not comply with Construction and Use regulations and Vehicle Safety Standards and therefore are restricted to “off-road” use only. These vehicles should only be driven on private land where the landowner has given permission and should not be driven on pavements, roads, public property or parks; this includes green grass areas and public paths.

“Riders must be aware of the minimum requirements by law, such as insurance and safety equipment that must be complied with in order to drive these vehicles legally.”
