Police investigating after ‘object allegedly thrown’ from M2 overpass

PSNI Road Policing officers have launched an appeal for information after an object “was allegedly thrown from an overpass” onto the M2 motorway at the weekend.

Detailing the incident, which occurred on Saturday (January 16), a police spokesperson said: “Road Policing officers from Steeple are investigating an incident where an object was allegedly thrown from the Carnanee Road overpass on the M2 near Templepatrick.

“This happened at 7.43am on January 16. If anyone has any information, or witnessed this incident, please contact police on 101, quoting incident reference number 355 of this date.”

The incident comes a week after a lorry driver sustained serious facial injuries after a brown bin full of rocks was thrown from an overpass on the A8.

Police are continuing to appeal for information following the incident on January 8.
