Police probe removal of SDLP election posters

Police are probing the removal of election posters in the Waringstown area.

A PSNI spokesperson said they received a report that a number of posters had been removed from the Main Street, Dunkirk Road and Gilford Road areas of Waringstown between midnight and 1am on Friday, 2 May.

“It was reported that three men had been seen in the area removing the posters shortly after midnight,” said the spokesperson.

It is understood the posters belonged to SDLP candidate for the new Armagh Banbridge and Craigavon Council Maureen Litter.

“Police would ask anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who knows the identity of the person’s involved to contact them in Lurgan Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Information can be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.” said the PSNI spokesperson
