The Ballymena Times understands that the incident may have been the spark for subsequent reports of an abduction bid.

The Times asked police to comment on the report, received from the Deputy Mayor of Mid & East Antrim Council, Timothy Gaston, that a child in the village had been approached and offered chocolate in what was feared to be an abduction bid.
