Police to ‘keep close eye’ after recent anti-social behaviour in Newtownabbey

Police have vowed to ‘keep a close eye’ on the Antrim Road area of Newtownabbey for the next number of months following a substantial amount of anti-social behaviour over recent days.

Officers had a visible presence close to St Gerard’s Church last night (June 15) after weekend incidents in the area.

Commenting on social media, a PSNI spokesperson said: “This area has seen a large amount of anti-social behaviour over the last week and we will be keeping a close eye on it over the months to come.”

The move comes after crowds of young people gathered in the area over the weekend with some abusing local residents and throwing stones at windows. Police said some of the teens had been dropped off by their parents.
