Police treating Park attack as ‘hate crime’

Police in Ballymena are appealing for information after a report of an assault at the Ballymoney Road, Ballymena area (Wednesday, 11th July).

At around 7:40pm, it was reported that a male was assaulted near to the entrance of a park in the area. It is believed that the male involved in the assault got into a small blue coloured Peugeot car, with three other men in the car.

At this stage, police are treating this incident as a hate crime.

The male is described as around 20-25 years old, 6”ft, slim build with short fair hair. The male is believed to have worn a white hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area overnight to contact police in Ballymena on 0845 600 8000.
