A PSNI operation was conducted on the Coast Road between Larne and Ballycastle over the Bank Holiday weekend in the wake of the reports in a bid to encourage motorcyclists to respect the roads.

Commenting on the issue, a police spokesperson said: “Following reports of motorbikes speeding on the Coast Road, local officers and colleagues from our Roads Policing Unit were patrolling the Coast Road between Larne and Ballycastle over the Bank Holiday weekend.

“This was an opportunity to engage with bikers and discuss a range of road safety issues with them. We checked the conditions of motorbikes at the roadside and provided advice about tyres, number plates and other safety issues.
