Londonderry Magistrates Court was told that Farren had assaulted his neighbour by reaching for him around the head and holding him.

The Prosecution said that another neighbour had to intervene after several minutes and police were called to the scene.

The Court heard Farren was arrested and during a subsequent search police found cocaine and cannabis in his possession.

It was at this point that Farren then hit a civilian detention officer in the face using a pair of jeans which had been rolled.
