The driver was threatened and told to leave the food and go, without getting paid for the goods.

A spokesperson for Turkish Kebab & Pizza House Portadown said they had been in business for five years and nothing like this has ever happened before. “We reported to the police. The driver was in shock after he saw the person with a knife in his hand.”

The Portadown community has rallied in support of the well known takeaway after it issued a statement on social media.

The Facebook statement said: “Tonight we had a very frightening situation that we feel we need to share with our customers and our local community.

"A large order worth £135 was placed for delivery this evening. When our driver arrived at the address, he was met by a group of young people, he was threatened and told to leave the food and go without payment.

"Thankfully our driver is physically safe, but it was an extremely upsetting and frightening experience for him.

"Our staff are more than just employees – they are people who work hard every day to serve the community, and no one should have to feel unsafe simply doing their job.

"As a small local business, incidents like this are very difficult for us. We do everything we can to provide good service, but we also have a responsibility to protect our staff.

"For this reason, any delivery orders over £60 will now need to be prepaid.”

Payment can be made:

• Over the phone by card

• In the shop

• Through our app when ordering

“We hope our genuine customers understand why this step is necessary. Your continued support means everything to our small business and the team who work here.

"We would also encourage other local businesses to stay vigilant. Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to support local.”
