Preventing tractor theft

A Tractor Theft Event will take place at D&M Farm Services, 36 Carnmoney Road, Eglinton, on Thursday, October 25.

The event is a partnership initiative, with the Police in Londonderry, working in partnership with the PCSP and CESAR marking scheme, to helping farmers to prevent the theft of vital farm vehicles, such as tractors, plant and quads, by holding the unique ‘CESAR IT’ day.

CESAR is a registration scheme giving peace of mind that your equipment is protected by state of the art technology, it is a visual deterrent to thieves and aids identification making it easier to return to its owner if stolen and recovered. CESAR has the added benefits of having no annual fees and reducing insurance costs. The system is approved and recommended by the Police Service of Northern Ireland and the Association of Chief Police Officers.

The fitting of the popular CESAR vehicle marking system will be offered at a hugely reduced price at the event at D&M Farm Services, 36 Carmoney Road, Eglinton on Thursday 25th October 2012. Places must be booked in advance.

The first twenty farmers who register for the CESAR IT day can have the benefit of a CESAR kit fitted to one of their vehicles at a discounted price of £69 (plus VAT) for larger machinery and £59 (plus VAT) for quads etc. This is a huge reduction on the standard ex-VAT prices of £150 and £140 respectively. Once the first twenty have been allocated, the price will increase to £99 (plus VAT) & £89 (plus VAT). All farmers are advised to book early to avail of the discounted prices.

Crime Prevention Officer Mandy McCrea said: “This scheme is just one of a range of events and projects such as our successful trailer marking days and rural text alert system for farmers being run by G District to help prevent agricultural crime and raise awareness of crime prevention measures.”

The event forms part of Northern Ireland-wide action by the Police Service to tackle farm thefts and help members of the rural community to protect their property, and it is being supported by the Ulster Farmers Union.
