POLICE are investigating whether five animals found dead in Portrush were poisoned.

The bodies of a dog, two cats and two crows were found in the Glenmanus area and another cat has been reported missing by its owner.

The dead animals have been removed for further examination to determine the cause of death and to establish whether poison was involved.

Police have urged the public not to approach the missing cat, a large orange-tinged strawberry blonde male answering to the name of Fitz, in case it is infected.

Anyone who sees the cat, or has other information about the animal deaths, is asked to contact the police.
