£200,000 Cannabis seizure in Ballymena

Cannabis plants with a potential street value of around £200,000 have been seized by police in Ballymena.

Ballymena Area Commander Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley said:”The plants were discovered during a proactive search in the Duke Street area this morning (Wednesday 13th August). Cannabis cultivation equipment and other associated paraphernalia have also been seized by police.

Chief Inspector McCauley added: “Taking these drugs off the streets provides public reassurance of police tackling drugs in Ballymena. Drugs destroy lives and a scourge on society. The information received by officers have played an important role in this seizuire. Officers will continue to tackle the issue of drugs and would appeal to all members of the comunity to report any suspicious activity to police on the non-emergency number 101.”
