Grigore Domintean (32), of no fixed abode, Ballymena, is accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a woman on November 21 and with sexually assaulting the same female on November 28.

A PSNI detective constable told Ballymena Magistrates Court that after being arrested, Domintean was released on police bail to reside at a B&B in Ballymena and ordered to have no contact with the alleged injured party.

On December 17, police were contacted by the woman to say that the defendant was knocking on her door.

On another occasion, police responding to a similar call, discovered the defendant in an outbuilding at the woman’s property.

The officer added that Domintean had failed to report to police on a number of dates over the Christmas period, in what she said was a further breach of his bail conditions.

Barrister Michael Smyth said of the alleged victim: “There hasn’t been any attempt to contact her since.”

Refusing bail, District Judge Des Perry said Domintean’s behaviour had been “pretty much wholesale ignoring of his bail conditions”.

The defendant was remanded in custody to appear again at Ballymena Magistrates Court on March 3.
