Remanded on rape charge

A man has been retuned for trial to Londonderry Crown Court for rape.

James Frickleton (35), of no fixed abode, is charged with rape and sexual assault alleged to have occurred on October 19, last year.

At a preliminary enquiry at the Magistrates Court, Frickleton declined to say anything in answer to the charges or to call evidence.

Seamus Quigley, defending, accepted there was a case to answer.

The accused was remanded in custody until a Crown Court arraignment on June 18.
