Detectives in Londonderry are appealing for information following a street robbery on Wednesday, April 18.

At around 2.20pm an 18 year old male was walking beside the corner of Great James Street and Rossville Street junction when he was assaulted by three unknown males, a PSNI spokeswoman said.

“They punched the victim to the ground and stole his Blackberry phone and attempted to steal his rings,” she said.

The three assailants were described as being in their late teens, one was wearing a red top and black tracksuit bottoms, the second was wearing a navy and white top, grey bottoms and black and white trainers and the third was wearing a navy hoodie with white tracksuit bottoms. It is believed they made off in the direction of William Street.

Police say the area would have been busy at the time with people and are keen to speak to a female passer-by who went to the assistance of the victim.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact Detectives at Strand Road.
