Rotary Youth leaders honoured

COOKSTOWN Rotary Club recently welcomed the local winners in the Rotary Youth Leadership Competition.

The Youth Leadership Competition, aimed at pupils aged 15 to 18, gives young people an opportunity to develop their leadership skills under the watchful eye of local business professionals and Rotarians.

The local and regional winner this year is Bronagh Mc Guckin from St Mary’s Grammer School, Magherafelt.

Bronagh was selected to represent her school in the local finals and having won through to the regional finals, she was also successful in the Regional final.

As one of the Regional winners she will now represent Ireland, joining over 400 students from 27 other countries to debate a range of issues in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Before travelling to Strasbourg, Bronagh will also visit Stormont, Belfast and the Dail, Dublin and she will meet a number of politicians to learn more about debating.
