Rubbish dumped in residential street is ‘height of laziness’

Rubbish dumped in a Co Armagh housing estate shows a total disregard for the local community, the SDLP has said.

White goods and rubble were dumped on a Lurgan street in what has been described as ‘the height of laziness’.

SDLP representative Ciarán Toman said: “Council will be lifting these items from Monbrief Walk, Taghnevan as soon as resources allows them to do so.

“This is the height of laziness and a total disregard to the area of Taghnevan.

“The cost of bulky waste collections has been removed following SDLP Councillor Declan Mcalinden proposal earlier this year.

“By removing this charge, it should be encouraging residents to use this service and help keep our streets clean.

“There is simply no justification for this!

“What is more disappointing is that the preparator lives in the community.

“I am calling on residents to watch out and report these incidents to council or to me. If culprits can be found, heavy fines are imposed!”
