Serious assault in Waterside

The PSNI in Londonderry have appealed for information after a man in his 30’s was taken to hospital following a serious assault in the Waterside on Sunday evening.

Police say they have arrested a 33-year-old man following a serious assault on a 31-year-old man at licensed premises in Duke Street at approximately 9.30pm yesterday.

The 31 year old man has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

A PSNI spokesman said the 33-year-old man involved in the assault remains in police custody.

Police would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Strand Road on the non emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
