‘Sex slave’ accused faces further questions

The 57 year old Craigavon man is facing a number of charges involving two vulnerable women.

Baker who appeared casually dressed in a black and purple T shirt and track suit bottoms was pushed into the dock at Craigavon Magistrates Court in a wheelchair on Wednesday morning last week.

The court was told the defendant had ‘medical issues’.

However there was no objection to Baker being transferred from prison custody to police custody for further questioning. He was released to police custody for three days.

Baker is facing 15 charges including rape, false imprisonment, human trafficking and sexual activity with a person with a mental disorder.

The Lurgan Mail requested that reporting restrictions be lifted in February on naming the couple who are both from Drumellan.

Keith Baker is further charged with indecent assault, trafficking within the UK for sexual exploitation, voyeurism, aiding and abetting rape and causing or inciting a person with a mental disorder to engage in sexual activity.

Baker has been in custody since his arrest last year.

It has been alleged that a woman with severe learning difficulties was kept in squalid conditions and repeatedly sexually abused over a ten year period by Baker and other unknown males.

It is also alleged Baker filmed the woman in sexual activity with these men.

Baker’s wife Caroline, also from Drumellan, is charged with falsely and injuriously imprisoning this vulnerable woman between January 2004 and December 2012. She is further charged with a total of eight sexual acts.
